I’ve never been one for New Year’s resolutions as I’d never manage to keep them anyway. So my new goal is not exactly a resolution, it’s more of a motivational goal when it comes to my movie collection. Right now I own 413 Imdb listed movies on DVD, plus a few more that for some reason aren’t listed, and my collection is constantly growing.
I’ve seen most of them, that’s why I’ve bought them, but then there’s a bunch that I haven’t seen yet. So this year I’ll try to see them all, starting with A in the “no specific collection” shelves.
I don’t collect just random movies though, in most cases there is a reason why I bought that particular movie. I collect movies with certain actors in them, old classics, musicals and less known ones, and if there’s something very interesting about them. (Like The Artist (2011), which is made like a 1920’s silent movie in black and white)
So, starting at the top, me and my boyfriend watched Colin Firth’s
A Single Man (2009) a couple of weeks ago. A very moving, sad film about a man who can’t move on after losing the love of his life.
I love both sad stories AND Colin Firth, and I think he was a perfect pick for this role. No regrets in having this in my collection! (and it also had a brief appearance of Lee Pace in it, which was a pleasant surprise!)
Next film out is Batman Begins, but I cheated a bit and watched Follow the Fleet (1936) from the Musical shelf instead. The past week I’ve been kinda rediscovering my love for Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and those old musical classics and got a craving to watch them again. I’ve never seen Follow the Fleet with Fred Astaire before though, but it was a good one. He and Ginger Rogers never fail to impress with their breathtaking dance routines!!
I also watched Anchors Aweigh and The Pirate again, both some of my favourite Gene Kelly movies. Especially The Pirate is really underrated!
Now I’m on the lookout for Kelly’s Summer Stock, as I really really want to watch it again, and I really need it in my collection. I hope to find it in the UK when I go there later this month.
To motivate myself to finish this project, I might try to write an update here now and then. Not too often though, as I guess my nerd posts can be pretty boring!
Do you have any New Year’s resolutions or any goals for 2016? 🙂
