Nearly two weeks ago, I woke up to a world covered in a thick layer of soft, fluffy white snow. It was a Friday so I had to go to work, but luckily the snow lasted through the whole weekend. So all of Saturday and Sunday was spent outside, working the horses in the pretty winter landscape.
I brought my camera out on Saturday, both on a small walk around the farm, on a hack and on a sled ride with one of the ponies. The light was soft and lovely, and I’m very pleased with the photos. Sunday came with darker skies and bad weather now and then, so I seem to have picked the right day to go photographing.
As much as I love the autumn, it IS pretty special when the first snow covers the ground, and everything seems to go all quiet. The world seems smaller, and every sound is wrapped in a layer of soft cotton.
The air is cold and crisp, and everything is so much brighter and softer.
And enjoying this from horseback is ten times better, as always!
Riding through a real life Winter Wonderland..
One of my favourite views!
Afterwards I went for the first ever sled ride with Alvin the pony. He had never pulled a proper sled before, so I was a bit nervous. But being the brave pony he is, he didn’t batter an eyelid and the whole ride went better than I had ever expected!
Now I just hope we get a better winter than last year with more snow, so we can do longer rides.
Have you had snow where you live yet?
